The food industry is one of the largest on the planet. The World Bank, in figures recently published, valued the global food and agriculture sector at 10% of gross domestic product.
The food industry is a market we all are involved in or depend on. It's one of the largest industries on the planet. There is no such thing as a 'typical' food processing factory. However, practically every rotary valve and diverter valve that we manufacture can be used by the food processing industries in some way or another. From the beginning of the process with raw ingredients right through to finished products, DMN-WESTINGHOUSE will have a range of valves to suit your process. Some food products are easier to convey than others. For most grain and flour applications, standard cast iron valves would be used.
All these valves have replaceable blades as standard for long life and easy maintenance. However, for sugar, cocoa, salt, and similar products, increased care needs to be taken when selecting valves, which will typically be stainless steel 316 but will be fitted with special rotors and seals. Crucially, for the food industry where powdered ingredients are commonplace, virtually every type of rotary valve or diverter that we manufacture can be ATEX certified. Also, our range includes components that are USDA Dairy Accepted, EC 1935/2004 compliant, and/or conform to FDA regulations concerning food contact.
